Bonnie Lewis
Bonnie came from a family of artists. The combination of bright Arizona colors and the influence of almost everyone around her committing the world to canvas had a strong influence on her as a child. She began drawing and painting even before she could write. She has worked in many mediums, honing her skills. She has made art her career.
Known for her paintings, murals and her love for public art, Bonnie (Mostert) Lewis is a product of the desert. As a third-generation Arizonan, she grew up surrounded by spectacular sunsets, ever-changing mountains and the intriguing shapes of the native desert.
Today, Bonnie's work has a bolder, brighter look. Working on canvases 16 to 20 square feet in size, she now experiments with wood, metals, bold colors and shapes. A stretch for a previously nationally acclaimed traditional watercolorist! As Bonnie has begun looking at the world differently, she looks at art differently. "Art is a means of expressing my life values, hopes, fears and growth. I am finally letting myself venture "out of the box" with honesty, humor and a sense of freedom."
